Immature birds don't become snowy white with scarlet legs and beaks/faces until they're at least 2 years old.

I haven't said any thing up to now as my brain is reeling from the wonderful pictures. All I can say is we have different definitions of the word Park. Ours is a relatively small area of manicured grass, summer bedding and rose gardens with the odd severely controlled lilly pond. What you have is a nature reserve with facilities for humans (seats, cafes, that sort of thing.)

This park is FAR from the ordinary. Before it was built, in my area there were a couple of places Hellholeah called parks that consisted of stretches of mowed grass, a few benches and usually some sort of statuary/plaque praising a local for subsidizing it. No flowers, no water, no activities except maybe a path to walk, or some basic playground equipment.

Even in Miami, when they have parks, they're mainly grass, some unkempt trees, beach, picnic tables, barbecue grills, maybe a shower stand for you to rinse off after dipping in the ocean.

Amelia Earhart Park is an astounding wonder to me. The slobs who visit it have no respect for it. They've carved their names into trees, and left rubbish EVERYWHERE. I picked up stuff until my back got twingy. Next time I go, I want to remember to bring along a bunch of plastic bags and some kind of long-handled grabber so I can do more.

I know what you mean, we are not plague with slovenly behaviour in Cwmcarn or Sirhowy parks but Pen-y-van is a favourite haunt of the rubbish brigade. Luckily they don't spread far fromthe car park.

What's really annoying is the number of spotless waste bins, with pristine bin liners in them-- and trash all around them even to where all you'd have to do is move your arm in one direction rather than another to get it in.

*grr* I need to get me an expandable stabby stick. :^)

I had a wonderful time snapping pics! I thought it odd that so few people in the park had cameras. One lady was taking pics of her children in the playground area, but except for that, I was the only one.

The park workers were all very nice, and whenever I saw one they paused to smile and say hello.

Oh, my, what a collection--I love the progression. And, yes, I guess that's where the use of beak for big nose comes from.
