The Library of Mariandria Exists includes 2 photos- Rocks and Hibiscus

Rummaged in the sewing room and came up with iron-ons I'd made (and fabric meant for iron-ons) for various holidays etc & thought that might work well as totes, so I rummaged through a drawer marked 'twill & heavy weight fabric' and a plastic chest marked 'more fabric' to find a bunch of lengths of fabric that I'd bought as remnants long ago. I remember it was a store mostly for dressmaking fabrics, high priced stuff, but they had 3 large -up past my chest high- rolling carts full of assorted remnants with bits of cardboard stapled on each one with prices starting from 5 cents on up to maybe a dollar or two. SO as I do, I dove in, picked out lots and lots of stuff- this might make a doll dress, this might make a few quilt patches, etc etc. Then I arranged them in groups adding up as best I could to whole dollar amounts & went in to the shop to pay. I told the women who had larger purchases to go ahead of me. ONLY when there was no one else at the register did I lay my stuff down, in groups of full dollars. The clerk gave me the STINKEYE and told me she only had this stuff because her late father had done it. And I was thinking, If it pisses you off SO MUCH even when I made an effort to reduce your work to only a few minutes for a LOT of this stuff-- why not either throw it out, or bundle it in big bags with a 'per pound' price on it? EH, whatever... that was... like.... um... 30 years ago? I never went back. I'd already picked out the cream of the crap.

SO, anyway, I have a bunch picked out that should work for totes. It's not as it they have to be a specific size. I also got out my yellowed roll of iron on Pellon stuff. Might still work? It only needs to hold on long enough to be stitched around.

While I was doing that I remembered discussing photo organizing with Watervole on my DW and that I'd been thinking of buying another 2T external drive to double up saving my photos, and since Amazon was giving me free shipping for 24 hours after my purchase yesterday I could just buy the one thing.... HAHAHAHHA. Yeah, no. But I DID restrain myself. I just added a bottle of GF probiotics and a cable (only $8) for my old Nikon which failed years ago, but after leaving it on a shelf (minus the battery) for those years, when I randomly tried it a few months ago it was WORKING. BUT when I tried uploading to the computer I got an error message saying the connection was wrong, so I thought MAYBE it's the cable? For $8 worth a try.

While I was typing I heard KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK on my front door. FED EX delivered the new MAX today! 12:30pm It was supposed to be tomorrow. COOL.

So after I sorted the maybe tote fabric I was in a sorting mode and the bookshelf behind the kitchen had some books I'd prefer to be in the Guest/Box/Tool/Library of Libraries. A couple medical/cat medical/house fix it/tools books. SO I went in and moved a few books from the medical/fix it shelf that didn't belong and went to put the new ones in.

BUT something lying on top of the books fell behind the shelf. The bookshelves are freestanding but NO WAY am I moving them. So I got a long bamboo pole (kept for plant supports) and scraped under the shelves. Got the usual LOT OF DIRT (my father built this room as an add on, but the foundation must not be perfectly matched because the ants bring up dirt and HIDE it where I don't see it. SO, I scraped out several pounds of dirt (and a catnip mouse) and then.

In addition the thing that fell- a Northern Hemisphere guide to the Night Sky (a disk that rotates to match up with times so you can tell what you're seeing, and a paper 'Locating the Planets' and a paper showing Planet Positions 1978-1979, there was more stuff.

A souvenir book of photos from Madame Tussaud's from 1982. Wow, I can imagine most of the wax figures have changed. There was a tableau of the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. So beautiful.

And a playbill from the Theater of the Performing Arts in Miami Beach- Yul Brynner in 'The King and I'. (1976-77)

And a little booklet- a 1961 reprint of a 1942- Abraham Lincoln- from his own words and Contemporary accounts. It also has a newspaper clipping 'Laughter Is Medicine' with humorous Lincoln stories. (so old it yellowed both itself and the paper of the book). The book has a $1.00 price tag on it... I wonder where I got it? BOOKS are EVERYWHERE I go. I'd bought books when I was in the first few years of school from. the Scholastic Book Services deal, so maybe there? I remember the teacher handed out the catalogs and most of the students just went 'more books, why would i want more work'... but they were always jealous when the books arrived and the teacher gave me mine. People are odd, they don't want something until someone else has it.

Ok, now I have to go back and sweep up the dirt.

Unpacked new Max and plugged it in- the charger went from green to red as it should do. It's supposed to charge for 4 hours the first time, so I set the kitchen timer to remind me. Going out to bring in SCUM-E. Yesterday I noticed he had some bits of debris around his impeller, but he TRIED anyway. This is my second SCUM-E- I work these poor guys until they fall over. He didn't get much today- maybe because George had stirred stuff up and it hadn't fallen to the bottom yet. SCUM-E is basically a self-propelled carpet sweeper, while Max actually is a vacuum cleaner. George supposedly worked by Venturi pressure- maybe if hooked up to a fire hose...

Aww, tiny dead froglet in pool. Sometimes they try, but the chemicals kill them. Alas, poor, froglet, no one knew him well. I don't mind the tiny tree frogs, it's the Bufo Marinus /Cane Toads I will not abide. Fortunately *knock wood* I haven't seen any in years after a long vendetta I had against them (they are listed as 'kill them, but do it without hurting them'.... which... the official recommended way was-- OMG NO, I am NOT catching a toad the size of a dinner plate (some of them were like TURKEY PLATTER size) and several pounds in weight, putting it in a PLASTIC BAG and then putting it in my home freezer until I THINK it's dead. Good GOD, no. Put a creature that secretes poison when stressed into my FOOD storage unit and count on it NOT struggling, and not breaking the bag? What were they thinking? Plus, I'm not even sure that freezing kills them. What if they wake up in the landfill, stumble across a mutagen and become THE TOADS THAT ATE AMERICA? Something to think about.

Went to Spoonflower to upload designs I wanted to have in smaller scales than the versions I already have on the site... and the site fails to load the 'project images' which is the only place I can change the scale. *SIGH* Maybe tomorrow it will work. They're often realllly slow, so I doubt it's external attacks behind this.

wow, I went brain fog and sat here without noticing time passing... the new Max was on charge and the light went as normal from green to red. I left it for 4 hours? I think? And then put the old Max on and it ALSO went as normal from green to red. So when I have achieved awakeness tomorrow I will try the new Max. And then be too tired to try the old Max.

He's an old Max, he waits. (distorted B7 quote for those who remember).

I have to stay AWAKE until the timer buzzes for the old Max charging. It probably would be ok to charge longer than 4 hours but why risk it?

Living room gas fireplace mantel with rocks. I did paint the tiger long long ago. Also I put the thin brick on the wall, replacing a horrible formed white and gray plastic 'brick'. They're real brick, just thin.. The dancing Hindi god was a souvenir my grandfather on my mother's side picked up in India MUCH longer ago- he set up newspaper presses around the world.
