Well, I tried.

In addition to my assigned Yuletide fic, I did manage to write one Yuletide story for someone in the then 20 who hadn't a full-length story. Then I thought I'd try for another, but...
a package came from my other sister-in-law... Gourmet Wheat-based pasta. *sigh* I called & this company had no non-wheat products, so they couldn't send anything else. I'll just regift it. :^) I girded my telephone loins (I hate the telephone) and called both brothers to tell them thanks, but please, stop sending me food. I didn't actually speak to Doc Bro, but then, I'm sure his wife was the one who thought of me at all (and only after the gift basket I'd sent them arrived).
Naturally, I couldn't get off the phone quick & was dancing on verbal mine-fields the whole time with each of them. I suspect I set off a few with DocBro's wife *shrug.* That got me so tired I couldn't fic even if I knew the fandoms.
I tried anyway, but then George the electrician called. My third brother had asked him to ask me to spend Christmas with them. No thanks- he's a nice guy, and honestly offered to help me in various ways but in actual practice it never happened (except for when I paid him- he DID show up on time when paid, which puts him head & shoulders above a lot of people). He & his family simply don't have anything in common with me. Me visiting would be uncomfortable for all of us, plus the embarrassment of having to refuse to eat with them, which is insulting to a host. Had a long chat with him and got even more tired trying to remember which mine-fields to avoid with him, so I napped.
After I got up I made gluten-free pasta with the gourmet sauce (I THINK it's ok- good so far) for dinner & then pulled up the few prompts I thought I might do. Got about a paragraph & was tentatively hoping for a plot bunny to nibble.
And then my third brother called me...*sigh* Long call, of course. Not as many mine-fields because I'd already blown up most of them with him. Part I found funny is that he'd got an email from DocBro saying '*We* spoke to sis tonight' and he repeated a number of the things I'd told his wife, implying that he'd spoken with me. He didn't get on the phone for a second to say hello! He didn't even say to his wife 'say hello from me'. In fact I did not even hear him in the background. I thought he wasn't even HOME until at the end I expressed a wish that he wasn't being a workaholic & was enjoying a Christmas at home & Sis-in-law said 'oh, he's here' but she didn't offer to put him on. Ok, fine, you don't want to talk to me, but why make it sound like you did? Do you get Good Brother points with God (he says he's very religious) for pretending to care? Very odd. I wonder if she put it on speaker-phone so he could listen in? Or just took shorthand notes of things he might like to know?
Oh, well... I shall *try* to fic... but at this point, I have no momentum.
