I woke up (late, am still trying to get back on schedule) to a thunderstormy day thinking 'OMG, RAMPAL... the guy on the customer service at the Data Recovery place has an INDIAN name, I bet that's my disk!'

So I got up, thinking, 'well, it's not yet noon & they don't deliver to me before 1 at the earliest' and turned on the 'puter & started my yoga while waiting for it to warm up.

Did the first pose (this is 20 reps so takes longer than most of the ones I do) checked the email for messages from DHL. None. Turned on the browser and... DHL said it had attempted delivery around 10am, but I wasn't home!!

Went out and looked for attempted delivery notice. NOT THERE, Not on door, Not next to door, Not on gate, Not in mailbox. NOT ANYWHERE.

Got their 800 number, called. Sat through options list, finally got to Customer Service but phone rang for 5 min, then cut off. called again, said 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' right away and got to a person. Explained situation (lot of static from the weather) woman said she'd help-- got cut off again.

Wrote down waybill #, all I've got since there was no attempted delivery notice. Went out and phoned AGAIN (this stuff is adding up charges on my pay as you go phone, adding to my annoyance) Snapped 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' at Robo-voice, got through almost immediately, explained 'got phone text to await delivery today, looked online, found attempted delivery message but NO Attempted Delivery Notice left, figure the guy saw I have no car and didn't even STOP but just kept going' Guy I spoke to very sympathetic, said sorry, will try again tomorrow & with a bit of wheedling admitted a)business delivery was supposed to be at that time and residential should have been around 1pm b) driver was supposed to GO to the Door and leave attempted delivery notice c) he would leave driver notice telling him that I don't have a car, but I am home and he should GO TO THE DOOR and RING THE BELL' like, you know HE SHOULD HAVE?

Admittedly at 10 am I would have been asleep and prob. missed it anyway, but he COULD have left an attempted delivery notice at the door. DONE HIS JOB.

And then it started to rain, so I made one last attempt to find out if the online info would give me a HINT what time of day delivery might be (you know, even just morning/afternoon) but NO, you just SIT around by the front gate, waving a FLAG, DHL, HERE BOY!...*sigh*

And I haven't been able to make a good design in days, either.

Sometimes you just get on a run of misfortune. I BET if I'd gone with one of the other two Data Recovery services, it would have worked better & they'd have sent my disk in regular Priority mail.

*grumble*
