I have got back some functionality, but the Safari browser is slow & for some pages just won't load (I managed to load a few designs to Spoonflower, but they weren't very large, hope it doesn't get worse). I had googled to try to find a) fix for Safari and b) alternative browser, BUT I tried the simple/safe fixes to no improvement and the complex/dangerous fixes (like if it says 'you can destroy your computer if you mistype'), and the few browsers they said were meant for Mac system 10.9.5 had all had forums dedicated to 'OMG THIS IS BORKED'. So.

While googling yet again for the browser problem, I came across an article on fixing it written by a person who lives POSSIBLY not too far from me & is registered with a 'tutoring' website, wyzant.com and specializing in Music, and Mac troubleshooting. So, after checking that they are a BBB member in very good standing, I signed up with them, and sent him a message. MAYBE I will hear back from him. MAYBE I will hire him to help me fix this. I dunno.

ALSO, yesterday I had a brief interval of thinking one of the busted ACs was working. Well, it did work, but not today. *sigh* Zombie AC.

And SOMETIME today (late afternoon?) the Data retrieval place is supposed to call me with a diagnosis and a price quote. I'm braced for it being too much, and just arranging to pay for them shipping the hard drive & my external drive (and its cable) back to me. Good thing about being a pessimist, you are seldom badly surprised.


On the bright side, someone ordered TEN yards of one of my plaid designs on Twill (one of the more expensive fabrics) so that's $32 in my Spoonflower account (unless they aren't happy with it and complain to SF within a month- that's why credit takes a month to clear).

AND I wrote a fic. Not a long fic, or a serious one, but still. FIC.
