Current status

feng_shui_houseI didn't sleep well, of course, but I did get up and at least mow a path to the back gate in case the plumber needed to shut off the water. He came over and looked at the situation (turns out the OTHER toilet is dribbling water near its shut off valve- he thinks that's a minor adjustment). He said he'd come back around noon on Sunday. *fingers crossed*
I relaxed for a while looking for and rereading Avenger fic (don't know what I'd lost, but I figured if I started at the oldest fic under Tony and Steve characters, Tony/Steve relationship, English, and Complete, that would be a workable amount that would cover a lot of it. For my next act, I'll go with Avengers movie verse from the current time back until I get bored) I'm currently at 4841 - 4860 of 5044. I know some fic vanished from AO3 after I'd saved it, but eh. You rejoice in the one sheep that's saved and try not to think about the lost.
I went back out to finish mowing the weeds, and when I came in I'd missed a call from File Retrieval- he sent me an email. They cut the price in half, which was really nice, but still, $950 is really more than I can afford. I called (and missed him again) and told him I appreciated their generosity, but I suddenly had plumbing bills and $800 was all I could afford which I know wouldn't be fair to them, but I want to find out how to get back the external drive I left there and would like to know if it would be possible/what it would cost just to remove the computer's hard drive and send it back to me.
He probably won't get back to me today- his email said he'd be unavailable after 3pm (20 minutes from now.) So I'll try again on Monday, I expect.
umm, what else... oh, yes, I had lost Fractal Domains, too, but the website looks fairly current & had an email contact, so I emailed & asked if the current version would work with my system 10.9.5 since the download page only mentioned 10.7. I COULD dl and try the limited version, but I'm in a paranoid 'everything I...
