Noah's Ark Baby Quilt

YAY, finished a Noah's Ark quilt I made for a neighbor's grandbaby.
Took ages. I fussy cut the varied Noah's Arks out which wasted a lot of them- had to cut through the edges of nearly half of them in order to get seam allowances on the ones for the quilt.
So I had to make rather large lattice framing to make the most of the Noah's Ark print. Fortunately, I had a big-- like 3 yards? Or more? Piece of a gold cotton that just matched the Noah's Ark. (I particularly liked it because Sunshine after the Flood- also of course Yellow & Blue *zing* together).
I was super careful not to waste the gold, because I wanted to do the backing with it, too. BUT after piecing the front it was JUST a bit too wide for the cloth, and I thought it would look dumb piecing in plain strips, so I took leftover Ark squares and fit them in.
And then when I got all the quilting done, I took the remaining gold cotton and made bias binding. It's so NICE to be able to make your own binding and be sure of a match. It's time consuming, but then, packaged binding isn't cheap & you always have to settle for 'not quite right'. I did good, I didn't burn myself with the iron even once. :^)
It's overcast & gray today, so I'm not going to tell them the quilt is done just yet-- want at least one good day to photograph it before I say goodbye to it.
