Mostly taken today, but the sweet potato fries was last night. Mmm...
The passion vine is a weed, but I hadn't got 'round to chopping back this one growing into the orchid tree. And now that a zebra longwing has laid her eggs on it, I don't have the heart to do it. Well, PLENTY of other yard work to do.
The zebra longwing eats pollen as well as nectar (you can see the yellow on her probiscus. I read that this makes them live longer than most butterflies.) The adult likes to feed on lantana, and I do have a couple lantanas against the fences. Can't let them get too wide, or they'll block access to the back yard, though.

Last night I was hungry and the first thing I grabbed out of the fridge was a HUGE sweet potato. And I thought... Hey, why not make fun fries? I had bought this book/set of garnishing tools back in the 1970's and hardly ever use it. It worked lovely. Cut & fried slices in butter. Added a bit of salt to the leftover ones today. NOMNOMNOM.

And here's the marigolds and zinnias, crowded so tight... if I get a less hot day I might try to transplant a few of them into the bed where I'd meant to put the plants that never sprouted.

Pineapple bloom is coming along!

I've been refilling Bernhard's water bowls every day and the mockingbird found it a nice place to have a drink. I love the mockingbird's attitude. Look at that tail.

And I looked up and saw a half dozen or so turkey vultures. Full zoom and then crop and enlarge, so not a great photo, but they are amazing birds.
