feng_shui_houseI woke up vaguely, as I do, when the trash trucks came by to pick up the bins.
I glanced out my window to see if the day looked like rain (intending to roll over and catch another hour of zzzzz), and LO, and even behold... there's a huge black plastic bag, with a pair of huge dirty sneakers next to it, on my verge. The neighbor's tenants have been sticking their trash bin on my verge for some time now, but BAGS and loose trash! NO, damnit.
I got up fuming. Showered, dressed and went out to make sure. Yep. Trash men emptied MY bin, but did not touch the bag. They only pick up bags on bulk days, and the next one is next Monday.
Dug out the neighbor's phone number. Voice mail with 2 minutes of horrible, horrible pop/rap music before I could talk. Left a message. Neighbor called back right away- he hadn't heard the message and didn't have my name programmed in (must have lost it) so he prob. thought it was someone else.
Told him they've been in the habit of putting their bin in front of my house, edging it over further all the time, and I didn't like it, but, live and let live, I hadn't complained. Only this time they put out a bag of garbage and a pair of shoes, six feet over the property line. The trash men have been by and took my trash, but they won't take that. I want you to tell your tenants to move their garbage off my property and not to use my verge, not for putting out trash, and not for parking. Do not use my verge at all.
So he says, what color is the bin? I said, it's not a bin, they put out a bag of garbage and a pair of shoes sitting on the ground next to it. But what color is today's bin? Ok, it's BROWN, right the trash bin is brown and today is trash day. (The recycling bin is green & gets picked up on a different day. And I'm thinking what difference does it make what color bin they *should* have put out in front of their property when they put out trash Bag and SHOES in front of MY property?)
Today's bulk pickup isn't it, the fourth Monday in the month?
I said no, bulk pickup is next week, and that's not the issue. I do not want them using my verge at all. I want you to have them move their garbage off my property and tell them not to use my verge at all. Not for their garbage or parking or anything.
Are you sure it was them? The neighbor across the street had put trash in front of my property.
I said I have seen the neighbor and waved to him and he knows I would not accept that. Also, I have seen his trash bin out at the same time as your tenants' put it in front of my house in the past and I have SEEN your tenants retrieving the bin later from in front of my house.
Tell them to move the garbage away from my house and not to do it anymore.
....I don't know if it's going to happen. It's still there as of half an hour ago.
Ok, I looked up reporting illegal dumping on line & then checked before I filled out the form- the garbage is gone. Fine. But I saved that page. *grrr* So now I'm WIDE AWAKE. I guess the day has begun. :^)
