Google is kind to cats
Jun. 12th, 2009 06:44 pmI checked & there were several articles saying some vets do recommend combining milk thistle & demosyl when treating a cat with liver problems, so I'm going to go with giving Tara the demosyl in the morning, the milk thistle at mid-day and the demosyl at night. The vet didn't mention that the demosyl's supposed to be given on an empty stomach, or that it degrades if not kept cool (possibly the label on the bottle said so, but they plastered their own label over it & I can't get it off).
I found the identical demosyl (dosage, quantity, pill type, even the bottle is identical except for the vet's label) on line-- for $45 I got 2 bottles of 60 tablets (including the postage) vs the vet's $52 for 1 bottle of 60 tablets. Discountpetdrugs.com
The site had it listed under 'nutritional supplements' instead of 'prescription' so I didn't bother emailing them the prescription. I should call during office hours tomorrow to make sure, though.
