feng_shui_house: me at my computer (Default)
These mostly wound up to be around 100k file size, so I'm going to put fewer on each post & spread them out over Giraffe days ahead.

EDIT: Well, I was going out but the taxiguy isn't accepting phone calls. I remember him saying last week that there was a birthday coming up in his family, plus his daughter just finished reading the Koran, which calls for a special celebration. I'm feeling a bit tired all of a sudden anyway. Shall take off my shoes & have a lie down. Maybe I'll go to the PO tomorrow early in the day.

I woke up several times. At quarter to 7 I figured I'd get up & post pics before the Canon help line opens at 9. At 9 I found out I'd have to call at 10 to get the dept. I needed. At 10 I found out that NO I won't be charged if Canon looks at the camera & finds nothing wrong with it. Also found out I had to fill out a PDF form which she'd email me a link to. I got the form, Adobe crashed just as I was putting in the last bit of info. Got the form again, filled it out. They want printouts to show the problem. I'd already selected representative pics from the zoo & put them on CD for Canon. I got out the good photo paper & printed 2 pics up on one page & wrote notes describing pic on the page. Ran out of ink after the second page. Put in new ink. Forgot how to set the printer for photo paper but kept printing & noting. Finally remmbered how to set the printer, got it to work good for the last two pages of blurry, washed outs. Removed strap, batteries & memory chip, left lens cover on, packed up camera with bubble wrap & all the paperwork (copy of bill of sale & warranty card, note about what was wrong, filled out PDF, printouts, etc. etc.) Am now TIRED. It's going for noon. Shall try to find something to eat before I fill out mailing label & call Taxi to go to PO. Must remember to get tracking & $360 insurance on camera. Will also mail package to my partner in crime, so the taxi trip will serve 2 functions...

Have a baby giraffe as a teaser for tomorrow.

The whole thing.

Cut just to today's addition. I really wanted to write more than that, but I'm just mentally wiped out today & could only think *half* a step ahead, which might leave me dangling over a precipice. Perhaps tomorrow.

Cosmo is happily driving a 1957 ragtop Buick sedan, glossy lemon yellow and white, with shiny silver chrome and huge 'air foil vents' * through a seemingly endless white desert with a blue so blue it makes your heart soar, sky. Not only is the top down, but so are all the windows except the windshield. Sitting in the passenger side seat is Merlin with one elbow on the door above the open window space. Merlin's long white beard is whipping back in the wind of their passage. Cosmo makes a verbal pass at Merlin who calmly and gently says, 'Cosmo, I'm a centuries old avaricious magician.' Without losing a beat, Cosmo says, 'You're right, I couldn't afford you. But can you afford me?'

* I don't know there ever was such a car. HAH! I found one. You'll have to imagine it in yellow and white. Roadmaster! Yes! I think the earliest car I remember my parents owning was a gray and white hardtop Roadmaster. http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/1936-1992-buick-roadmaster-43.jpg

Today I started reading 'Guinivere Evermore' & had just finished reading 'Babylon'(history as pieced out by archeologists) so that explains Merlin and the desert. The ragtop was definitely a Cosmo car. The upholstery was scarlet leather...and really, it *worked*. I like the idea of Merlin being a hitchhiker. ;^)

Also, I finally got 'round to updating my Amazon wish list. This is NOT a plea for presents, I mainly use this to remind myself on days when I'm ordering & need a bit more to get free shipping. I'd been reminded lately that I missed out on a lot of the Diskworld books & so I loaded up my wishlist with all the ones I haven't got, with the exception of 'Unseen Academicals' because various flisters have said they didn't care for it.

Anyway, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to glance at the list & tell me a) titles that are especially good & I should give them priority b) titles that are really not worth getting at all.
