Love them! Ah, I have never gone bythe doubledecker and now I probably lost a chance. This summer I saw only the new ones there...
And the commercials in Piccadilly Circus were no so VAST and no ubiquitus McDonald!:-)

Maybe they'll bring back at least a few double-decker buses to please the tourists.

Piccadilly circus has changed a lot (in general, but also since that photo was taken.)

I was in that hotel bar with [livejournal.com profile] killalla just the other week, though :) They refused to serve us, as it was late and we were not hotel residents ;D

Aw, what a pity you couldn't have refreshments with at Sherlock Holmes. :^)

We've had drinks in there before, and it's one of the more decent places on the street. I wouldn't pay to stay there though!

It's a fun place to have your photo taken, though. And I bet the guests take all the stationery.

At those prices, I reckon they're entitled to ;D

The towels may fly, too. :^)

Nice pics. I love that double-decker bus. I've never had an opportunity to visit the UK before but I'd love to.

Back when National Airlines first got overseas routes (in the days when the government regulated such things) dad was able to get passes for us once a year & the intinerary always had us beginning and ending at Heathrow. We never ran out of things to do just in London itself.

Oh, I do love old photos... and there was something so endearingly clunky about the early 1970s.

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
The early 1970's were comfortable, no sharp edges anywhere. :^)

I love the curved windows on the hotel.

Yes, they made a lovely contrast to the rather dull brick on the upper stories.

Oh, these are marvelous--love the busses and all the statues. You know, one of my favorite places in San Francisco was the Sherlock Holmes Room in some hotel--I don't remember which one--that was a small bar. We were there when the Jeremy Brett Holmes was first airing on PBS.

Oh, that was good timing. :^)

I like those. :-)
