Cheeky is a fair description of the folks here. On different occasions they've stolen my trash can, my recycling bin, my 'do not dump here' sign (which I put up after a guy deposited a truckload of huge things the trashmen aren't supposed to take (I ran out as he was tossing the last thing on the pile and he ignored me screaming at him, and just finished what he was doing and drove off leaving me with a broken glass door scattered all over big pieces of junk- I had to literally weep and beg the trash men to have pity on me- that was 2 years ago and I'm STILL finding bits of glass out there)) and one guy took the wire handle of my recycling bucket WHILE I was standing there- I told him to put it back, and he gazed at me in surprise and said 'But I need a piece of wire' as if it was only natural to wreck other people's things because you have a use for them. (That's the one they stole later, and the city no longer gives out the nice ones with handles, maybe they're just too WONDERFUL to resist.)
