If I'm using it, I should help support it & from what I've heard (unconfirmed rumor), up to 20,000 new accounts have been made at DW since the latest LJ Customer Disservice.

I would hate for DW to fail for lack of funds.

OK! Took me a bit to find out how to add you back. I THINK I've done it.

Perhaps things will settle down a bit over on LJ as the bugs are ironed out. I was pretty irked when I couldn't select an icon, and then couldn't comment at all, but managed to get that sorted. Thanks to a user, not to LJ itself! Still, my backup is here, although I've not updated here for ages.

Unfortunately, there are MANY serious problems with this new bit- and the worst one is that the guy in charge of Russian LJ (the biggest part, now, I think) is adamant that all of the changes were made to suit the way HE likes his particular journal and he refuses to have most of the worst problems even mentioned as possibly being fixed because he LIKES them that way.

Currently you can get around some of the problems, esp. if you have a S2 style- unfortunately, this guy plans to do THE SAME thing to S2 styles - timetable varies, but within 6 to 12 months.

And he also plans to muck about with Scrapbook, which was one of the few advantages LJ has over DW. No idea what, or when that will happen-- I have thousands of pics...*sheesh*

I really don't know what they're going to do, or when. But when I was looking in the Russian beta links (they're the only people who got ANY advance warning-- and only a week at that) there was mention that scrapbook was going to be changed, too. Didn't say what was planned.

I am really not happy about that either, as they've messed up scrapbook pretty much any time they touch it at all.

I now have a Flicker (forget how to misspell it) and I must admit it sure loads a LOT faster (for one thing you can select OODLES of files at once for uploading, which I could never do- I always had to select one at a time & then upload the batch.)

I can select more than one pic to upload. I do use Flickr for my craft stuff as it links easily to Ravelry but I don't find it as easy to use as Scrapbook. Maybe I'll have to transfer my stuff anyway to make sure it's safe. Random pictures just don't load on LJ. Flickr seems more reliable but I'd have to make sure I don't go over the free monthly allowance if I copy everything.

I'm not SURE, but I think the free monthly allowance is not STORAGE but view usage. I think you can upload TONS and be ok, it's just stuff like people sharing videos that are likely to put the average users over the limit.

Read the instructions again to make sure, I don't want to lead you on.

I'm not thinking to copy my scrapbook over anywhere. WAY too much stuff to bother with. It's not as if copying them would preserve the links if Scrapbook dies.
