Mountain Laurel (this is a landscaping/hedge bush which blooms infrequently & seldom in clusters. It smells rather like a jasmine, but heavier. Not everyone likes the scent.)

Cantaloupe sprouts! Yay! I tossed these seeds in... Oct...28/29, I think. And a couple days ago I saw the first one struggling up. YAY. I hope I get at least one melon.

Part of a four-o-clock/marvel of peru plant after the blooms fell off. I'd never seen one curl and turn pink. Prob. not healthy, but it looks cool. I applied a touch of 'watercolor' filter & jazzed up the density of the colors for better impact.

Volunteer zinnia (must have been a seed that survived me digging up the bed.) I love the way they look when they're beginning to bloom, each petal is like a tiny rosebud.

Female racerunner taking time to smell the flowers

Katydid (I *THINK* it's a katydid. I've never seen one before.)

Dragonfly

To have things growing all year round is wonderful!

Except that you never get a break from lawn mowing. :^)

But you don't have to rake or blow off piles of leaves either. :)

I raked leaves for an hour yesterday before I could mow. ;^) They fall off when it gets dry.

I stuck them in a trash can and then stomped them down and then put them on my compost heap hidden under a bougainvillea.

The dragonfly is fantastic against that beautiful background. But yes, it is the racerunner that made my day! perfect and lovely creature!

I love the racerunners, they are such wonderfully designed creatures. Even their toes are beautiful.

Cute little small things--flora and fauna. How big are racerunners?

The racerunners vary a lot- the smallest I've seen are only a few inches long, most of the adultish females seem to be around 7-8 inches long, but I've seen some adult males more than a foot long...

mmm... must... nap... *slump*...
