I haven't said how impressed I am by your giraffes for ages I think, but I AM. AND I LOVE THESE ONES. I love that you are so much better than whole COUNTRIES.

Thank you! I did over 200 of the potato print giraffes- I got a bit carried away. :^) I am giraffable! :^)

The potato hasn't yet shriveled to uselessness, perhaps tomorrow I'll do more with COLORS.

Those giraffes are impressive.

I didn't know asparagus fern had flowers.

And rainbow sun Thomas is very arty.

Potato block printing is so easy! You cut a potato flat, carve on it, and use an ink pad.

I *think* it's an asparagus fern. I didn't buy it, it's a volunteer plant. It doesn't bloom often but every once in a while conditions are right- then it produces tiny green berries.

I had fun with that pic of Thomas. It was a cute shot of him lying in a patch of sunlight even before I 'shopped it.

Yay! Success!

The 'asparagus fern' (I was told that's what it's called) is a very *strange* plant. It has fernlike leaves, it grows like a vine around bushes and trees choking them to death, it has tiny spiky thorns that dry up and become irritating dust, it blooms tiny flowers along the ferny bits that mature into tiny green berries and it has roots that go down to CHINA so I can't dig them up. So, even though it's an annoying weed I try to enjoy the beauty of it, and trim it back with gloves when it gets too enthusiastic.

Oh come on, this sounds like the most resistent and aggresive plant! I am really speechless because we all know this Asparagus from the florist“s where we can buy them in a pot and quite expensive!

It is a weed where I am. :^) It's good as a potted house plant, in climates where it can't get out of control. If I don't keep on it, I have seen it 15 feet tall, smothering a tree.

It wasn't too difficult. ;^) This time I noted the steps. :^)

remove color,
adjust brightness and heighten contrast
duplicate layer twice
apply a magenta/green/yellow radial gradient from center out to top layer
apply ink outlines filter to middle layer, set middle layer opacity 40%
set linear light blending mode to top layer
set hard mix blending mode to middle layer.

{noting steps}

I think it's just the way emo cat's face is (and he's rather cute}. The last set of kittens fostered by the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, the Drapers (they all get surnames) had sad faces. Scroll down to see the ginger-and-white kittens.

[Edit] The kittens are obviously really happy, but these ones just have that sort of face. This is my favourite Draper post. Sooooo cute!

I like the potato-cut giraffes.

*nods* Emo-kitty's face is basically proportioned sad, but the effect is increased by his one droopy ear. He really does a great Marlon Brando. He even has the swagger walk. :^)

The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee is adorable. I wonder how many fosters she's raised altogether?

I want to try doing more with the potato-print tomorrow, if the potato is still usable. With luck it's cool & dry enough that it'll dry rubbery instead of go soft & moldy.

They do so well with their kittens, and they meet the people they go to, which is lovely, and usually stay in tough with them. The kittens all seem to leave confident, happy, and playful; the Drapers were very matted and dirty when they arrived, but they fell into excellent hands. They have two cats of their own, and Butterbean seems to take the kittens under her wig. Well, paw.

I subscribe to the LJ feed [livejournal.com profile] kitty_committee, a good way to follow their little kitten families. So far I've known the Musselmans and the Drapers, as I only found them not that long ago.

It's a wonderful thing to do. :^) And gives them the chance for kitten pictures nearly all year 'round! :^)
