This is so cute- Country Cat

Meow Mix (a cat food company) sent me an email with links to music video adaptations of their classic cat food jingle (meow meow meow). I watched most of them & they were ok, but nothing to write home about.

But this one made me giggle and smile. It's a country music video in which this handsome cowboy returns home after a hard day's work, to relax and pet and feed his cat. I'm still smiling thinking of it. (It really doesn't hurt that the cowboy is so good looking.)

Oh yes, absolutely! The guy who has Cole and Marmalade is so cute too. Check out the vids here. The couple adopted Cole after a friend found him in the street as a tiny kitten, and the guy, Chris started making the vids when he found out about the crap treatment black cats get. He's as cute as his cats!

I actually found the vid you mentioned before you edited your comment! I like black cats myself, most of the ones I've known have been mellow sweethearts, starting with my first cat 'Midnight', then... let's see, 'Jet' 'Magic' and 'Bonnie' of course.

Yes! All the black cats I've known have been just lovely. Greg's sister's Marmite used to invite all the cats in the neighbourhood to the yard; she'd find 17 of them there. That was a cat to be reckoned with.

Did you see about the little black cat nurse in Poland who comforts all the sick and hurt animals?

It breaks my heart that Americans don't like black cats and they're so often killed at "shelters" - when statistically they're the friendliest and sweetest of cats.

I've also heard that "torties are naughty" and about the "tortie attitude" but I've never known one.

People are strange. I just did a google to see if there's a consensus on black cats more often being put down at shelters and I found that not only is that true, BUT it also applies to black DOGS. I'm pretty sure if they had shelters just for birds, crows would get adopted less often than white doves.

Personally, I'd rather have a black animal than a white one of any kind, because darker=healthier in my superstition (it's backed up a little by science- all white animals are more susceptible to skin cancer & more likely to have hearing or vision deficits.)

That said, my favorite cat color will always be the tuxedo black and white. They just look so *put together*. :^)

I'd never have a white cat here as the sun is so strong and they're likely to get cancer. My Petra was a tabby with white lower face, paws, and tunny and she got cancer, the vet said via her pink nose. They even advocate sunscreen for pale animals.

When I went to see Sebastian at his foster home, tabby kitten very like Petra and a tiny tortie were all over me, but the little tabby had a pink nose. I was still tempted, but I'm so glad I chose Sebastian as he's a darling.

Black cats don't suffer here. As a German friend said, "they're just another colour of cat". I was so shocked to hear about blacks cats in the US, and even George Takei, when he posted about the little Polish nurse cat, said that he normally won't cross paths with a black cat but would make an exception for that one. And he has cats! :-(

Superstitions are illogical and cruel.

I've heard that in England black cats are considered especially lucky, so that's one place it's good to be a black cat.

Oh! I forgot about Thomas! My Uncle Tom was a darling black cat, as affectionate and attentive as you could possibly want.

I have never deliberately gone out and got a cat, so their colors were just chance. I've had all black, black and white, calico (tortoiseshell and white?), brown tabby, and red tabby, plus the outside cats who were pretty much that group of colors.

I haven't either, but after poor little Petra I decided "no pink noses". Of course it wouldn't matter at all if they were indoor cats but they love the garden.

Black cats often get named Lucky here. :-)
