Maybe the weather's going to change--
I kept waking up last night & have had a sinus headache all day & been groggy despite applications of tea, chocolate and even coffee. So... all I did in the yard was water, and add a few more salvaged selvage ties to tomato plants- added another support branch with spider accessory (been storing the orchid tree branches in the half-roofed shed & turkey spiders are taking advantage). I'm glad to see spiders near the tomato plants. Maybe they'll catch some moths before they lay eggs to eat my plants.
And I thought about the next Spoonflower contest 'geodesic' & figured that's basically circles intersecting other circles and then turn the circles into straight line segments, so I went to my LineForm vector and made circles in 6 increasing sizes, and thought to keep them distinct, I'd color them in the spectrum, Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Purple (the 7 color spectrum is illogical- Indigo/Violet? You've got Red Yellow Blue and their combos are Orange Green and Purple. Adding 'purple red' makes no sense, unless you go further and add 'red orange', 'orange yellow', 'yellow green', 'green blue', and 'blue purple', too.)
So, I made these six color circles, but instead of centering them, I put them all touching on one edge and that reminded me of a peacock feather 'eye' and I thought, hey, I was looking at my book of 'Paisleys and Other Textile Designs from India' and I thought I could add a basic paisley 'comma/curved teardrop' shape underneath, and... well... then I got into the mindless zone of resizing and copying and moving the collected rainbow circles. And it started to make a fun paisley shape. And I saved it as a jpg and then went to Photoshop Elements, and copied and arranged, and then I got into coloring, and changing the colors, and blend modes, and adding a subtle burlap texture, and... well, I wound up with 15 colorways. I do love paisleys. The ones in my book are much more elaborate, but I've not got that ambitious yet.
(So, yeah, nothing for the contest. *shrug* I do abyssmally in the contests, anyway. But not infrequently my contest entries sell fairly well, so it's worth trying.)
Temp 4 current collection, mainly a colorways collection of paisleys.
Also I've been re-reading one of my favorite SGA McShep AUs. 'Turn into Something Beautiful' wherein John is a Feline Shifter in a 'verse in which people like him are treated like animals (but with even less protection for their welfare than the humane societies give animals), while still expecting them to act like humans. Angst! And shape-shifting! And bad guys who are really speciest hateful monsters. And Rodney loves cats anyway...
