Ok, so now the roof is leaking...

OH, well... it's coming in quite a bit straight down inside one window (metal frame set well back in a cement block wall), and on the same side of the house, another window has just a few drops- but the wall above the window has the paint and plaster all bubbled up and cracked...

So... oh well...


in Jan, I had them do an inexpensive patch job for a leak that stained one spot in the ceiling half way across the house, but I fear this situation isn't a patch job - seems like more than one leak, and probably not easy to find- running along under the tile until it gets to the edge?

*sigh* It never rains, but that it pours.

I emailed the roofer company-- it's a Federal Holiday, too. I figure no point in phoning (and no rush because they can't very well inspect the roof in the pouring rain- wouldn't be safe or useful.) They were a good company- hope they can help. Possibly I'll need the whole roof redone... some maintenance I can let slide, but the roof isn't optional.

EDIT: The water is now coming up under the floor tiles in the other room--- ok, not a good sign, there.

You can never relax, can´t you? This is more than unpleasant and it will cost money! As soon as you manage to get someone, the better.

You tell me. And not only the house itself - I will have to paint our wooden fence and it will be costly because this is a special paint.

I currently have a box of rocks on top of my toilet tank (and inside it a stack of sticky backed foam on top of the 'workings') because when I flush the part SCREAAAAMMMMS like a damned soul (the cat runs away if she sees me reaching for the flush lever) if pressure isn't put on it, but I'm afraid to put TOO MUCH pressure on it for fear it'll break, so the foam inside lifts the lid of the tank, and I adjust the weight by putting rocks in the box until it just stops making loud noise...

I do not want to let anyone into the house, not a plumber, not a roofer.

The toilet situation isn't all that bad. At worst, I could shut off the water to it, and use one of the other two- but this is the only one *short* enough to be comfortable for me. :^)

Oh yes, I keep forgetting the situation! Of course it is reasonable to wait. If the situation is not tragical. Wwow, your toilet got wild!!!

It is an untamed commode!

The roof is definitely a priority- I've got paper towels on the one window sill to keep the splash from leaping out to hit my power backups. Yep, in the room with my desktop computer. Water and electricity do not mix well, so I'm keeping an eye on the situation.

It finally stopped raining, so I could catch up with the mopping. I am so tired now, mopping is not my strong suit. :^)
