Dead Fish: Do Not Eat
Jul. 12th, 2020 12:44 pmImma doing a bunch of different stuff today so will be trying to post pics in between.
Found this fish lying on the sidewalk/verge in front of my house a few days after the community went into fairly rigid lockdown, the day after a tremendously powerful storm that caused a lot of flooding, etc. in other parts of my community.
SO... how did it get there? A neighbor comes around to feed stray cats all the time- wasn't her- she'd seen it the night before after the storm. There are no drive around fish mongers here. Who would go fishing during a lockdown and then toss it on the ground? I don't think groceries here even sell this kind of whole fish... suppose someone did fish earlier, and had it in their fridge or freezer? It wouldn't be in this good a condition.
SO... while it's uncommon (and when it does happen it's usually multiples of fish) SOMETIMES powerful cyclonic wind bursts will pick up fish from oceans/lakes/ canals and then later drop them to the ground.
?? Who knows... it has FANGS, maybe it was a vampire fish and flew like a bat and then was killed by a cat who decided not to eat it. :^)

Date: 2020-07-14 12:43 pm (UTC)It just seems so odd- I'm not close to water, and there was a tremendous storm the night before- far too strong for a bird to be flying at all.
