So, last week I was a bit under the weather-

I had made the mistake of cooking with a few garlic cloves (the first place I found that delivered groceries had a very limited list of options- the only way to get milk was to buy a combination big box of dairy/fruit/vegetables no choice, buy the whole thing.) Normally I don't eat gas-producing food, because I'd had problems in the past, but there were onions & garlic in the collection, and I was happy to discover that I could now handle a small amount of onion, even thin uncooked slices, without problems. SO, I cooked 2 garlic cloves in with a stir fry on the 21st ... OMG, ERROR ERROR, danger Will Robinson. I have drunk so much coffee, and water, and finally sugared water with peppermint extract, trying to flush my system clean of the OW. Trapped wind is no fun. 'Tasha tried to help by laying on my belly whenever I tried to nap (hard to sleep so wound up napping a lot) so I'd lay there and she'd put her fat body on my belly and I'd burp...

Last Friday, the 24th, I mowed the front- lots of heat, lots of rain, lots of missed days to mow so it was a lot (I filled up 2 buckets of mulch). I was really tired and achy before I began, cuz, you know, constant low-level pain is tiring, so after taking several breaks and struggling to finish I gave up on the idea of doing the back and didn't even have strength enough for a shower where I'd have to stand, so I went for a lazy doggy-paddle swim in the pool.

Got out of the pool and came in the house (I'd turned off the ACs because coming in from outside after swimming I didn't want to get chilled) and was immediately shivering. And I thought well glad I had the ACs off. Faffed about on computer. Chills got worse.

Went for a nap, fully dressed, under my load of quilts, with Tasha on top. And could NOT stop shivering.

So, you know, Pandemic Hypochondria. Chills sometimes means a fever is coming. I have no medical thermometer (ok, I have no WORKING medical thermometer. I have FOUR old mercury thermometers all stuck and non-responsive). SO I'm going around, OMG I sneezed! OMG, my throat's a bit sore, OMG I coughed, OMG, my eyes are dry and feel warm. OMG, my muscles ache!

So, in time honored fashion I set out to reread favorite fic and drink lots of water. Along around the second quart I just couldn't choke down plain water, and added sugar. Couldn't taste the sugar, could FEEL it but not taste it. Oh, no. Added peppermint extract. Couldn't smell that, either.

OH, well-- on the bright side, I'm not actually feeling bad, and all the hydration seems to have finally removed the evil garlic influences (at least reduced it to the occasional burp). Am I a vampire? Or maybe a cat. Cats can't eat garlic, either. Maybe I am a vampire cat. CATULA.

A while back I ordered custom printed stuff from Shutterfly. One item got lost in transit, I complained, they sent a second one that got lost in transit, I complained, they sent a third one that got lost in transit. I threw up my hands and said, 'fine, someone, somewhere will eventually find them and I hope they enjoy reusable shopping bags printed with an anhinga bird stretching out its wings to dry.'

And then one of them arrived a few weeks ago and I was, 'YAY'....

And then last week Shutterfly sent me an apology because I should have got a package a few days ago. And I was??? Whatever. That's a way late email.

Last night there must have been a power glitch cuz the microwave clock was blank, and worse, my modem was dead. I have 2 uninterrupted power source backups, with the desktop computer plugged into one, and the printer and modem on the other. Printer was still getting power. Turned out half the outlets on the UPS are now dysfunctional *I tried the reset button, using a tiny fan to test- no joy*. *RATS*, but I had available outlets on the other UPS, so I just switched it over. Will have to order a new one from Amazon, and hope it can navigate through the Pandemic fewer planes operating, road crew destroying my street at random intervals, and the possibility of a hurricane- supposedly this year is going to be a VERY active season, so I've been trying whenever I had the energy, to cut back vegetation that could cause problems...

So, I was not even thinking about Shutterfly until there was a knock on the door-- FedEx delivering a second Anhinga bird shopping bag. I put it with the first one, maybe they will breed and the third one will arrive.

(I check this government hurricane tracking site every day at this time of year- we're up to H on named storm systems, but so far I've been fortunate.)

Also, I have more pics of butterflies, but no energy to sort and post them. Sorry about that...

Oh my dearest Catula, I love this name so much and it is very YOU. But seriously, I am very sorry, your problems have always been hectic and no exception this time. you must have suffered a lot and I am sorry. And yes, it is not easy to feel down these days, one can panic very easily. Stay safe from illnesses, huricanes, outages and stupid bureaucracy.
If you feel better, please, don“t forget to post your butterflies, please!
HUGS
