The kestrel is an unusually cute and fluffy bird of prey!

It is! I suspect that fluffiness enables silent flight- owls are fluffy and silent. :^)

I read recently that scientists had got around to checking the genetic code of the American Kestrel and discovered it's closer related to the Peregrin Falcon than to actual kestrels. What's in a name? :^)
