Woke up with back still ow. I finally gave in and took two acetaminophen. I am now a drug user. *sigh* I'd been clean for so long. :^) It's helping, which is good because I have zinnia seedlings that really need transplanting & I hope to do at least some of them today. It's likely to rain today which would not only be good for the plants it would make me feel less annoyed over missing out on yard work.
The common names of animals seem to keep changing- the most recent I've seen calls these 'rainbow lizards'. It's a pretty name, and the adult male certainly lives up to it with the bright turquoise blue midline down on the head and forearms, fading on the belly to become bright sea green on the front of the hindlegs, with the sides of the lizard a dull green generously speckled with tiny pure yellow dots, and thin dull yellow lines going from the neck all the way down the back over a brownish green base.
The female is much more subdued, the back stripes are a darker brown, she has only a few spots, and the blue is reduced to very pale 'wash' on the front legs.
I watched this pair for at least fifteen minutes before I got too hot and gave up. He was trying really hard to get her attention, bumping her with his nose, climbing over her, pushing her up to go under her, biting carefully at her tail.
And the whole time her attitude seemed to be tolerant boredom. :^)

Apparently they aren't very good as pets mainly because they're nervous and require a lot of mixed kinds of bugs to stay healthy.

Date: 2021-06-15 02:46 am (UTC)A few years ago a green iguana was in the neighborhood. They get HUGE (like 4 to nearly 6 feet long). I think the cats got him, which was fine by me because they're vegetarian lizards and wreak havoc on bushes and flowers.

Date: 2021-06-15 02:56 am (UTC)I used to go to a local park nearby a few times a year and there were always iguanas- mostly green ones, but some black iguanas, too. Like walking with dinosaurs. If you got close and they couldn't get away I'm sure they'd bite.
And when they're young they do eat meat- other, smaller lizards especially.
