George the electrician told my brother he'd come by today to help with the fan. As I had a load of laundry in the bedroom I decided to take care of that this morning.

The washer has had it. It won't spin/drain. I see myself hauling out the clothes and rinsing them in the bathtub, hand-squeezing them, and then putting them in the dryer (fingers crossed that doesn't decide to croak.)

The clipper/pole-saw is also a goner. It's just plain worn out. (Ken stole it from an old lady, so I never had a new one.) It's worth the $60 for a cheap one, I think. Cutting thorny 10-ft tall bougainvillea is a lot less ouchy with one.

Am trying to get up the energy to haul the laundry out of the machine.

George checked out the fan & the connection in the attic & says it's fine- the reason it's not flush with the ceiling is because the ceiling is uneven (sloppy workmanship back in...1949?). He says the noises are normal 'settling' sounds and nothing is going to fall on my head.

George also said the city is going to demand grounding wires running from the steel ladder & the other steel thing to ... I don't know... I am so not looking forward to the inspection after it finally gets done. According to George the whole thing is likely to fail and they'll demand it all get smashed up and.... *(brain explodes)*

The telephone guy came by and hand-delivered their no-objection letter. YAY. Still have not heard from Comcast.
