Progress update
Jun. 18th, 2009 08:37 amAfter getting to bed oily & waking throughout the night from excitement & finally giving up & getting up at 7:30... pool guy called at 8:30 to say 'Rocco' would be coming by in the afternoon, to 'get a feel for the job' & they'd start tomorrow.
On the Vital Matter of the bookcase- I have thought perhaps I'd make the bottom not open, but put a wider level in an inch or so from the floor as per
vilakins advice about not making it top-heavy. And the Simplest Divider of All came to me last night as I was tiling- I could take an empty plastic cat litter jug (they're roughly rectangular) and cut it high in the back, going down low in the front & put a few books in it- the weight of the books would hold it in place, but even when I took the books out, the plastic should still hold the others upright. I don't normally take out more than one book to read at a time, so that should work. I only have 3 empty jugs not currently being used for something else, but I can count on my cats to give me more in future.
Hang on, I just found some commercially made bent metal bookends that'll work. Reuse is better than anything else.
