Book haul

I hit the thrift store before the grocery store today & resisted everything except 6 books (2 novels: Small Gods by Pratchett,and Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce 3 factoid books, Life in a Medieval Castle, The 100 Greatest Women of All Time, and the 12th Edition of Uncle John's Bathroom Reader and one humor book, 'Politically Correct Bedtime Stories' by James Finn Garner. Garner's book is very short, so I've already finished it. It's fun! Example: The Emperor's New Clothes ends with the country becoming clothing-optional.

1930's cool office equipment

In one of the Thin Man movies there's a scene with a woman ending her day as a secretary by pulling up on a handle at the back of her desk and folding away her typewriter underneath. This is so cool to me. One smooth motion and the typewriter tilts and goes down while the handle pulls up a piece of wood that fits on top of the desk. So I screen captured a dozen stills and made it into a little animation.

I STILL can't figure out how it works. :^)
