Your Name Comes From the Moon (which technically isn't a planet, but what the hey)
You are a moody person, and you are constantly seeking balance in your life (must balance carbs with protein or I get dizzy and lean to my left).
You feel connected to all beings (particularly furry ones that get on my lap and purr). You are very sympathetic and understanding (my flist needs me).

You are very influenced by who is around you (again, my flist of huggables). Too much negativity is certain to overwhelm you (especially getting work done in Hellholeah).
You are happiest when you are alone with nature, especially when you're around water. (Like a non-green, non-tadpoley, swimming pool.)

So far he's got 170,303 giraffes. I haven't yet giraffed today.

For the last couple weeks I've been slowly tidying up what used to be the tomato patch and LO and BEHOLD more than a dozen of the strawberry plants I'd also put in are still alive! YAY. I've been pulling weeds one at a time to try to avoid hurting the strawberries. My compost heap is now roughly a four foot cube and I still have lots of weeds left to go.

After I got too fried to weed pull I came in to resume working on this room. I have MOST of the stuff cleared from 3 1/2 walls (I'm not even THINKING about the closet yet, which is literally packed from top to bottom. Am continuing to patch walls. Have finished filling in a low spot that had been filled in from an AC being moved, have filled in holes where phone used to come in from another room, have scraped most of the flaking paint from baseboards (on one side there'd been flood from improper AC, on another side there'd been flood from main waste pipe rotting.) Have to patch in a lot of cracks above the baseboard. Think I should paint the area with Kilz, too. It's been dried out for a long time, but mildew was under the paint.

Have one remaining 10-ft. long wooden shelf to remove (I got the 2 lower ones already) & a couple heavy things from atop it. Have to get the ladder. Am tired... must... keep going... never get to paradise unless I keep going...

Links to some of the giraffes I like best on the site. Also text of an interview with Mr. Ola Helland & a link to a BBC interview on YouTube. )

I knew the box I had to remove from the top shelf contained black wax Victrola cylinders (23 out of a possible 24, but one of them had a broken end. Since it had already been glued once, I saw no harm in using rubber cement to glue it again to keep the title- imprinted on the top end- intact). I'm sure there are a couple more boxes around the house, too, and what was a working Victrola last I saw it, years ago -mom kinda greatly devalued it by spray-painting the morning glory horn in moss green...oi... But! I never knew that the partitions between the rows of cylinders were newspaper from way back! I took the cylinders out to wipe the dust off them with a soft cloth & realized it was newspaper. I hadn't thought the box was as old as the cylinders, but the newspaper I carefully glanced at a page of was from Trenton, in 1909. Maybe they did it at the Edison factory & the box & newspapers are all original? Cool... I put the box up on the top shelf in my bedroom to keep me from temptation.

I only read two articles- one was about a terrier named Little Joe, who saved his 10 year old master from being run over by a train by grabbing his trouser leg, and losing his own life in the process. He had a funeral with a carpenter made casket and real flowers.

Another was about a man who hated to waste his straw hat by not using it by a certain date, so he got a note from the mayor permitting him to wear it as long as he liked. Which was a good thing because he made such a scandal by wearing his boater that 2 policemen were going to arrest him, until he showed them the paper! Apparently US society was far more conformist than I thought! To be arrested for wearing a straw hat out of season??

Ok. Am going back to work. Have to get shelf down, remove some stuff that had been hiding behind the door- have already removed 3 quilting frames... get Kilz and paint & get started.

Must GET To PARADISE before I die.

It's 7:35 pm and Thomas is screaming at me, and I am wiped out & resting on LJ for a few minutes before I feed him & clean up my bod & maybe float in the pool. This 10ft square room is a PAIN in the TUCKUS to paint. Which prob. accounts for the fact that it hasn't been painted in decades. I still haven't moved the computer's desk, or the desk next to it, so I don't know whether that wall needs repair. I hope not. I would REALLY like to finish tomorrow. I've done a ton of cutting in around stuff; window, AC, outlets, light switch, ceiling on 2 3/4 sides, shelf supports, 2 corners, door and top of closet.

So, all I have to do is finish the cutting in around the ceiling & closet & the baseboards & 2 corners, disassemble 2 desks to hopefully make them light enough to push clear of the walls without killing my desk mac or peripherals, roll the walls out, sand down the shelves (I don't know HOW they were ever got in there, they fit so tight they scraped paint when I got them out.), reassemble enough stuff back in the room so I'll have space to dig out what's in the closet (for starters about 50 leather skirts, plus coats, trousers & jackets) so I can fix the walls & paint that.... I... do not... think I will do all that tomorrow.

*flumph*

And I've neither Naarted, nor giraffed today! I'll rummage something out of the mountain of stuff I piled in the living room... later.

Ok, Thomas, it can has be fish tyme naow.

*phew, must hurry!*

It was late and I couldn't find the tin with the stuff I'd wanted to use, so I grabbed another tin and found some pretty wired ribbon.

I decided not to cut the ribbon, so I'll unfold them tomorrow & put the ribbon back in the tin. :^) There's also a giraffe I can't send to One Million, because I created it on the computer.
