I gave up on News

news had been progressively less useful, but today's ridiculously lengthy post, including a large photo (their latest brilliant idea is to run a sort of contest, posting large photos submitted by users just... to use up space, I guess), required so much scrolling it annoyed me. Quite a few users complained and asked for it to be LJ-cut. 5 hours later, still not cut. And they said they were planning to do this 'newsletter' with the large photo and other useless trivia, every week.

A user recommended I take it off my flist (I think s/he meant 'make up a custom filter'), and just read the email notification... but I just took it off entirely. I used to be able to get info from the LJ Herald comm, but the mod grew weary and that's gone. I'll prob. regret it when they DO report something important, and I miss it, but if they're going to make a weekly gossip and trivia rag out of it, I don't even want it as email.

EDIT: I friended lj_maintenance so I should at least get advance warning of planned outages. Then I had a thought--I went to the News profile page and clicked on 'Track User' and set it to email me when news posts a new entry. That's a whole lot less fiddly than making up a custom filter and easy enough to undo if it gets way annoying even in my email.

Am V. tired.

Fell asleep after 2, woke up at 4. COuld not go back to sleep. Got up, put out the trash (good, I'd forgot that) and then painted my VIP (Vanity in Progress). The outside will be a sort of brown reed blind (I'm thinking to varnish it) but the inside is wood & has now been marbelized to look roughly similar to the green and white vinyl 'marble' floor tiles. It's now 8am & I've tidied up after the painting & am going to try to sleep. MMmm... pool/yard desperately need attention. Maybe later. Still have a lot to do on the vanity & am STILL not sure how to make the opening. The blind slats are held together with continuous length of string, so cutting it anywhere is going to make it fall apart... mmm... maybe a few coats of varnish before cutting...

International Month of Porn

Is scheduled to go throughout this November. We are a small group, very cheerful and accepting (images/text/poetry, fan/original/rps, explicit to demure). The aim is to produce a bit'a'porn'a'day (missing days doesn't mean you've failed, no one is keeping count).

No length limit. While we'd prefer your porn in a comment on I-MOP because it looks so GOOD with its friends, you can link to a post in your journal instead if you prefer. We do ask you thumbnail or link to any large (substantially more than 40k) images.

Here's a reminder post from the originator: the Queen of our Porn-Hive. She's sweet, but if it's needed to defend us, she has a sting. The only real requirement is that you must be at least 18 years old.

Too sleepy for productive work, but brain was willing to do a bit of old paper sorting. I stopped when I came across a printout of this 'adapted' poem that I'd done ....no idea when. I have no idea who I showed it to, whenever I first did it, but I don't *think* I'd ever posted it to LJ, so here it is.
