Today's Google doodle is a happy making interactive in memory of Les Paul- Guitarist, Inventor, Innovator 1915 - 2009.

You can strum a googuitar by mouse or by keyboard. If you click the red button it will 'record' and then you click the gray arrow and it will replay your ditty.
It's so cute, I wish they'd leave it up permanently somewhere.

Yesterday was kinda depressing. The pool supplies never even came, etc. (EDIT: the guy came a few minutes ago. Very nice guy, suggested some chemicals I could try that are much easier than chlorine. Shall think about it.)

Today I see that the fabric design contest I entered is open for voting. There are at least a dozen designs WAY WAY better than mine, so I know I've got no chance of winning. But I would like to avoid the depressing crushing failure of seeing only ONE vote cast for mine, so if you want to help, please vote. You can only 'fill out a ballot' once, but you can choose as many fabrics as you like, so it's not like you'd be stealing votes from something you thought was better than mine. Some of these designers are *awesome*.

Go here: http://www.spoonflower.com/contests/84

And you should be able to click on this:
Vote in this week's contest:
18" Cloth Napkin Pattern: Crayons

You get a randomized multi-page ballot- very simple. Click on anything you like and it gets a green box. Click again if you change your mind and that removes the green box. Scroll to the bottom of the page, click to go to next page. At the end, there's a simple captcha which finalizes your vote (once you do that, you can't make any changes.)

If you just want to see mine, here it should be. I just... heck I use paper towels, I couldn't think what would look good on a napkin. So it's something entirely unnapkin-related. Also EDIT:I just noticed that if I look at my design and select 'mirrored' instead of 'centered' the design makes quite nice yard goods! It works really well that way.

The one I'm currently working on, I think will be better, and possibly not need ballot-box stuffing to keep me from going WAAHHH, nobody likes me!

This contest's theme is 'Puzzles'. I've made an allover design of clothing pieces fit together in a child's puzzle fashion (the kind where pieces are the shape of the objects). Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to vote on which of the four variations I should enter in the contest. I'm only allowed one entry, so I want it to be the best version.

I've put the four patterns up at Spoonflower, set to show you how a yard of it would look.

White flat outlines

Black flat outlines

Black raised outlines

Black raised outlines with some 3D effect motifs

You can click on zoom below the image to see more detail in the basic repeat.

And here's the poll. )
