Yesterday I saw a dove *walking* across the street (after looking both ways) while I was putting out the trash. It walked towards me, got a couple feet away, then changed its mind and walked in the other direction. One wing wasn't tucked properly, so I figured it for walking wounded. Never give up, never surrender!

House phone just rang. The guy starts speaking Spanish (even after having heard me speaking English only to him in person). He barely speaks English, doesn't have enough common sense to identify himself as ATT until after the third time I ask, who is this, what do you want? (I THOUGHT it was him, but wasn't sure) calls me Mirriam (which A) I'm a customer, give me the respect of my LAST NAME, and b) that isn't my first name, either) and tells me it's fixed. I tell him NO, it's not, I hear a loud ECHO. Have to tell him 3 times before he decides that just telling me it's fixed isn't going to fly, not when I hear my own voice coming back-ack at-at me-me. So, he's going to be calling back after a) doing something else or b)waiting a few minutes in the expectation that this time I'll believe he's fixed it without him having actually done anything.

Mmm... no dial tone. So I guess he's doing SOMETHING.

In other news, the walking dove almost walked on top of my shoes. I suspect it's thinking 'Big Predator that doesn't eat Doves, might Protect me from Small Predators that DO eat Doves.'... that is, if doves think.

Ok, possibly. last ATT update today- he said he reported the metal box for replacement, and something called RT lines *might* be reported for replacement (each to take at least a couple of days) and he was working to finish up some kind of neighborhood 'box' 4 houses down. If it's nothing worse than the echo, I'll wait a few days before inquiring if they're going to do anything else.

So. Very. Tired... and can't move far from house telephone, in case he calls, so that means no relaxing looking for butterflies...

so thirsty I could lick cement... (Gratuitous Icon Post- since I have to stay near the phone/puter I've been sorting/culling photos & came across a couple I took of a lizard drinking drops of water on Lennie the cougar statue.)

I suppose the ATT guy has gone. I still have a dial tone, which is nice. I'm so sleepy... but I wanted to get SOMETHING done today so I sewed on the teddy plushie fabric until I got too tired to finish it, then I did some minor revisions on the teddy plushie design (will finish once I have photo of finished bear to add to it). In the process I came across a drawing I'd intended to turn into a fabric design over a month ago- Teddy bears as classic movie monsters, so I played with that & got something I thought would work as a repeat, and uploaded it to spoonflower... whereupon it vanished-- the file is there, and if I refresh the page or do any editing (even to the name of the design) it briefly will show and then vanishes again. *sigh* I emailed Spoonflower & hope they'll fix it soon. I can't even set the style of the repeat. The ONLY way you can see any of it for more than a second is to use the Zoom button. So feel free to zoom.

so tired... shall look for butter or dragon flies & then try to nap. Body is not good with insufficient sleep.

Be sure to watch this dramatic movie- the music is wonderful. It really grabs you and says 'SOAP! Wash your hands with water and SOAP!' Produced by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, etc.

EDIT: 2009's winning movie is even better! The music is catchy and fun, rather than awesome, but the movie more than makes up for it, 'Dancing in the Loo' is a very funny cartoon.

I only have two- the mac.com which I suspect is being deliberately sabotaged by mac in order to drive away pesky customers who insist on clinging to the old- and an excite.com email which had been set up to go to my desktop email, too, but it did that by going through the mac.com email. SO... does anyone know any email service that can be set up to go to a mac's desktop email program? (It's imaginatively named 'mail')

I really don't like webmail.
