After finally giving up on trying to resuscitate the caked together paintbrush I'd used to paint what will eventually be a closet, I hope and leaving the brush in a bucket to soak I glanced up and saw eerie light at the back window. I grabbed my camera.

(ok, I admit to photoshopping out one power line- but I did nothing else to the image.)

Wow! Nice. Doesn't seem real.

It was very cool. There was another ray off to the right, but it was already starting to fade- the whole show vanished in about 3 minutes, I was lucky to catch it.

I'm hoping this is a sign from above of good roofing weather to come. :^)

Wow, stunning! Sort of the opposite of a glory (which we get a lot of here) but I've never seen that effect before.

I've seen it before on rare occasions, but usually it's very pale and hard to notice. This was so bold it was like liquid metal.

I was trying to think what the clouds reminded me off and it hit me: the Horsehead Nebula. :-)

The shadow of a cloud, I know it's possible, I've seen them on the ground, but this is the first time I've ever seen one in the sky. Old Ma Nature has more tricks up her sleeve than David Copperfield. It makes a magnificent picture.

I'm so glad I happened to glance up and see it. I do try to look out around sunset just in case there's a light show going on.
