Bonnie with flash- the pic's sharp, but the color is misleading- she's not that light.

Bonnie without flash- the color is fairly accurate, but it was impossible to get a sharp picture of her when she looked at me because she always moved.

Bonnie loves attention, she's purring at you.

She's a cutie! I know what you mean about photographing black cats. I have a 7 year old black shorthair (who's currently making a nuisance and "helping" me type...) and I have yet to get a good pic of her. Even with a flash, they all wind up looking very flat.

If at all possible, leaving the flash off seems to get better results. I turn on all the lights in the room, and pull up the windows shades and *sometimes* I get lucky if Bonnie sits still when I take the photo.

What a pretty cat! She looks like a smoke - does she have the grey as an undercoat under the obviously black bits?

Yes, she's a smoke. As a kitten she was all over tufts of dirty gray mixed with black, but when she grew up the black covered all the gray so completely you couldn't tell it was there. She's about...10? And for most of that time she looked pure black.

I went away for a month-long holiday in 2003 and she developed skin problems in my absence. She kept obsessively licking and chewing herself despite everything the vet and I tried. Medication would ease it for a while, but never long enough for her coat to fully recover. I was fairly sure it was an allergy triggered by stress, but cat calming spray wasn't enough help.

Once Ken and his 3 male cats moved out, she stopped having skin problems and the undercoat grew out a lot longer than it had ever been. I'm hoping the allergy never recurs.

It does sound like Ken's cats were the problem, doesn't it? Here's hoping Bonnie's recovery is permanent. She is so pretty.

I wish I could get a full side view, when she's standing but as soon as she sees me look at her she runs towards me. The pattern of gray is really unusual- she's light gray in a stripe running down the back edge of her hind legs and up her backside, her sides are rather badger mottled and her ruff has almost got bands of light and dark. The gray color keeps spreading.

Thank you! I was sent lovely presents including a penguin to bathe with, so as soon as the workmen leave tonight I shall be happily floating with a penguin.

Well Either Ken was the problem or the cats were. They weren't all male were they?

Yes, he had three boy cats. I still have one male, Tommy, but he's the most mellow fellow on Earth.

I think she's trying to turn into a panda bear, which will be interesting if she succeeds.
