feng_shui_house: me at my computer (Default)

I slept late (10:30) and only woke when BEEP BEEP BEEP went off. After only a couple second's panic (alarm clock, smoke detector, alien invasion, construction vehicle backing up into my house)I realized it was the cellphone crying because it was hungry. Which gave me a second jolt of adrenaline as I remembered the pay as you go was to expire Jan. 15 and I couldn't remember what day it was.

Leapt out of bed, fed the phone, fed the phone account (I now have $155 saved up on it...well, be handy when I move), weighed myself and was relieved to see I'd lost 2 pounds overnight, which explains why I'm feeling much better today. Brain-fog is greatly lessened. I even realized I could make a note of the new expiration date & leave it on my computer desktop, where I might actually remember it.

Plans for the day: Pay a bill, write thank you note to sis-in-law for memory foam pillow (which helps account for longer sleep), Call exterminator & make appt, Call vet & make appt after checking the State of the Cats, Scrub tub with sandpaper, and do some fun stuff in between, Photograph my pet rock 'Purple' to post, choose a few nice fractals to post (I played with Fractal Domains again last night)...

Mmm...shall put off feeding email account info into 007 until I get FireWire cable- possibly Sextus can painlessly transfer info. Must call MacConnection... shall do that first-- as soon as I find their phone number...got it.

EDIT: 1 handed typing while on phone...macconnex phone ppl r confused. back & forth, ...nice ppl, are trying. Ok, DONE. I wound up going back to the sales lady & having her look up the desktop Mac also bought from them so she says I need a 4pin to 4pin Firewire & the best price wound up to be a 10-footer. But then I remembered I need a 00 Philips screwdriver for when I add memory to the lappy later on, so she searched out a jewelers kit which might include it, and then since it would cost $$ for shipping unless it was up to $100 order, she helped me find some flash drives. Should get all this within about 4 business days. Ok, break from phone and computer now. Time to feed the birds & outside cats & clean the litter box.

Must remember later to get the ladder & change a bulb in the kitchen.

EDIT 2: Found the phone numbers for the 2 big Exterminator co.s (didn't call yet), Did the litter box, fed the outside cats & birds & changed their water (Last night a cat was on top of Bernard drinking from a bird bath-don't think I got a good photo, though), photographed Purple and got sidetracked for a long time by birds and butterflies (some nice Julia Heliconians were on the Lantana), there was a mockingbird waiting for me to leave so it could eat lantana berries (have to remember I did get a photo of that a few weeks ago & didn't post it), in the front the Ubiquitous doves were joined by bluejays and too briefly for a photo, sparrows, feeding at Bernard and then there were turkey vultures cruising overhead, and then I saw a flash of yellow in the bushes, which I only got a blurred snap of, but I'm sure it was a male Orchard Oriole- they like pollen & the orchid tree is in bloom. I snapped a fairly good pic of a female Orchard Oriole a few weeks ago... don't think I posted her, either.

Drank a big glass of water, am going to *try* to follow [livejournal.com profile] nimitzbrood advice re migraine.

EDIT 3: Downloaded my photos from Dec 31 to computer, shall prob find some nice ones to post. Am looking at recent fractals to see which to post. Paid bill & Thank you note in mailbox. Called Terminex first. Guy says he'll be here within half an hour-45 min. I'll wait to call Orkin until after this guy's been here.

Drank 2 more big glasses of water. Must remember to assemble/send off rebate on 007. Also have package for [livejournal.com profile] executrix to label & send.

EDIT 4: Terminix guy here right on the half hour mark. He says it's a *2* day treatment, but if I want to pay extra they double-dose it and it would only have to be *1* day. Oh, that sounds good. When I asked around last year everyone said it had to be *3* days. He's measuring now. His name is Fernando Mon-Dragon, which I think is a great name.

EDIT 5: It's amazing how much easier it is to handle people interaction when I'm not glutinated. Mr. Mon-dragon gave me a discounted price if I have the service done before the end of Jan (the price is what I'd hoped, so I'm cool with that.) But out of principle I try to get at least 2 estimates from reputable companies before signing contracts. I called Orkin & got a 9-11 a.m. appt. for tomorrow (so no staying up late tonight for me). Orkin stood me up *3* times over a year ago (I originally was going to termite tent before doing all the major work) and by the time the guy finally showed up three weeks after the original appt. I'd already started getting the roof done & kept up the momentum of major work until December. After all my dealings with various contractors since, I've made up a one-strike you're out rule, so if Orkin doesn't show on time tomorrow, I'll just go with Terminix.

Mailman brought me my Dr. Scholl's shoes & Totes walking shoes & support sox. So, Yay. There's no point arguing about getting older. Adapt. Embrace the Support Sox. (When the heels wear out, you can cut them down into fingerless hand support for when you get carried away with computer typing.)

Now off to look for vet's phone number. Got it. 2pm appt tomorrow, Tara for follow up blood test after her dental surgery in Dec., Bonnie for vaccine, so all 3 cats are up to date on shots & can be boarded while house tented.

EDIT 6: Have fixed up lots of photos to upload & have replaced lightbulb in kitchen. Have also made gluten-free noodles with spag. sauce for dinner. Tara nagged me, so I let her have a bit. When you are a cat with few teeth spag. sauce is a good thing. Also had another large glass of water. Surprisingly, am not sloshing about. Maybe I really do need more water than I normally drink.

EDIT 7: More water. I think I am possibly a Phibian and did not know it. Got a package ready to go to [livejournal.com profile] executrix and used the Postal Orifice's website to print up label with postage & address (I always forget they're going to do that & have already wrote up labels--oh,well, stuck them inside just as emergency backups), scheduled a pickup, shall have to remember to put package out tomorrow morning. Ah, should set alarm clock for 8:30 a.m., in case Orkin guy shows at 9a.m.. (If a.m. comes at the end of a sentence does the second . do double duty as a period? Seems unfair to make such a little guy work twice as hard as a comma, who never gets asked to end sentences.)

Still have not scrubbed tub with sandpaper...I think I will let that slide and instead re-read an old SF book (The Best of Murray Leinster) until my partner in crime joins me to RPG. And put up some of the *31* photos I uploaded.

I'm good at forgetting that until it gets too dark to see what you're doing.

I'd left it a long time when there was one bulb out (there are 5 in the ceiling) but when there are two out, I put one in. (They're not standard bulbs so I have to remember to hunt for them.) A second one burnt out last night and it's quite dim in there.

When I get a good day, I try to take full advantage- the next day turned out to be rotten, so I'm glad I hadn't lazed about when I felt up to doing things.
