I'd already sawed and glued in place a narrow strip of wood at the back of the window opening because the large piece was slightly too narrow. Here I've already sawn and marked the large piece on the top of the board(the wood was slightly warped and fit better this way) the depth of the drywall, the depth of the gap to be filled in with expanding construction foam, and the depth of the concrete. The X's are in the 'concrete area' to indicate approximate locations for drilling pilot holes (slightly smaller than the screw diameter) for the tap-con screws. I put more than necessary because sometimes I drill crooked & have to abandon holes.

Here's the foam after it expanded and dried and I trimmed it with a knife.

Yes, Kilroy was here!

My regular drill & various supplies.

Pilot holes drilled and Liquid nail squirted all over the place-- I wound up having to add more.

Liquid nail is good, but it's not a miracle- so I propped the board in place and left it dry for a day- you can just see the white edge of the narrow strip of wood behind it that I'd put up the day before -that was light enough for the liquid nail to hold up by itself.

This was a screwup. First I used the hammer drill to drill the cement but I didn't hold it tightly enough and it made the hole too big for the tapcon screw, so I substituted a fractionally thicker screw, and tried using my regular drill to drive it in. The screw jammed about 3/4 of the way in and I wound up having to saw it off. It's mostly sawed here.

Sawed off screw head, metal cutting saw, and pliers I used to bend the nearly sawn screw until it snapped.

More work at EHouse...does that mean you were feeling better today? Kilroy gets everywhere.

I was feeling better until more aggro popped up. :^) (Today is so far ok, but then, it's only 9:40am...)

The photos cover more than a week- I think I started on the 14th, but had to keep stopping, either because I needed to buy supplies, or had to wait for the loan of the hammer drill, or had to wait for stuff to harden or dry. Most projects seem to involve a lot of stages with necessary halts in between, even when I happen to feel up to battle.

Ehouse has had more operations than a hypochondriac!
