(This morning around 9am)
I called my regular taxi guy again- no answer still. Maybe he's on vacation, or retired. So I tried another taxi co. number, and it rang & rang & rang. So I tried googling for taxis & called one and the phone number just buzzed busy. So I tried another number and finally got someone who said they'd send a cab in about 15 minutes.

So, with luck I'll GET to the bank. Don't know if I'll have to walk the 3 miles home again... maybe the taxi co. are all concentrating on the airport.

Ok, must go get ready.

EDIT: I got my hopes up too soon. The guy called back & said they had no taxis in my area & he gave me yet another taxi company phone number. If this keeps up I'll call the pool guys & tell them they'll have to wait for their money, cuz the taxis seem to be boycotting Hellholeah.

*SIGH* I called them & it's the SAME lady working for the company that takes me half way and strands me...well... half way is better than none. I asked if she could call me back if they DON'T have a cab in my area & she said 'no, we can't call out, but you can call back in 3-5 minutes to see if we have a cab for you'.

Ok. I called back & she says a cab is on the way. *fingers crossed*

Byeeeeee.

3:38 PM, and I'm back in Ehouse.

*whuff* My Naart today will be sketches (I took along a set of 6 gray artist pens as well as my usual microball pen) made whilst waiting a various locations around Hellholeah. 1st stop I went to a 1-hr. photo developing place at the far end of the block where the bank with my savings is. I had found my panoramic camera had a roll of film in it...erm... several years ago...I had forgot even how to open the camera, so I opened it with the film not wound & I was pretty sure I'd wrecked most of it. What the hey,I was curious. I told the processor that it was really old & I had no idea what was even on it. She said she'd try.

I got back in the cab & had him drive me the length of the parking lot to the bank. While waiting at the bank I made a couple sketches (a carousel horse and a cat) before my bank officer was free. Then I listened for a long time to my bank officer's physical woes. I think she's really being mishandled by her doctors- she's had lower back/butt pain since Oct 2008 and been analyzed, pet scanned, cat scanned, x rayed, blood worked, dosed with medicines that made her bloat up like a balloon, acupunctured, chiropractured, nerve specialists, tons of pain meds with side effects etc. *sheesh*. *I* think her problem is that when she was moving furniture back in Oct, she overlapped a muscle and trapped a nerve. So, anyway, we're friendly & she did me the favor of talking the bank manager into not charging me for the cashier's check for the pool guys & got the rest of the money I wanted in cash (to replenish my checking acct at another bank & my taxi cash).

Then I walked the length of the lot (15 minute walk- long block, short legs) back to the photo place (after pausing at the movie theater directly across from the bank to see if something good there- 'G-Force' is playing, looks nice). The photos were all blue and faded & there were only 6 of them even printable. I asked what I owed her for them, & she said nothing, and just gave the 6 prints & the negs. to me. They're blue, but also they're ...well... one is of the front sidewalk of Ehouse. It shows a coconut tree, and 7 cats. All of which are dead (tree, too.) Another one shows the back of my mother & my uncle (both dead) near a painted boarding (which says 'coming in 2000' on it) in a resort in Colorado. And four of them show my cousin's house in Colorado (which I would not be caught dead in again, after I recently discovered that they so despised me as a child they called me the 'frog princess').

Then I called my regular taxi guy, just for luck. Nope. So I called the taxi company. And waited. And called the company again. And went into the Walgreens & bought a raspberry iced tea because I was drying up so bad I couldn't talk on the phone. And waited. And waited. And called the company again and said to have the cab pick me up at the bank. Walked 15 min back to the bank, paused at movie theater to find out when the next showing (starting in about half an hour ) of G-Force would end, nodded at my bank officer (I'd told her about the previous taxi fiasco & she said if I couldn't get a ride, she'd drive me home, which is why I looked at the movie times, I thought maybe I'd watch the movie & she'd take me home when the bank closed which would mean I'd have to get to the other bank & the grocery tomorrow) and used the bank's toilet (iced tea didn't stay with me long) and came back out to see the taxi outside.

Told the driver I'd been waiting 45 minutes & he blamed the dispatcher, so I asked him for a direct cell phone number to HIM. He didn't seem keen on the idea, so I let it go, but before I got to the second bank, he wrote out his number and gave it to me.

While standing on line (about 2 dozen customers and 2 tellers) I sketched a unicorn. I can sketch unicorns under nearly any condition. After feeding my checking account I walked the length of the lot (only about 5 minutes) and decided to treat myself to a visit to my favorite thrift store (It was only a tiny jog to the right away from the grocery.)

I picked up a hardcover 'Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony'-- hope it's good. And a factoid book 'Insultingly Stupid Movie Physics' which sounds quite good. ANNND it's got a website
http://www.intuitor.com/moviephysics/

I think that will appeal to some folks on my flist.

Then I shopped & went out to call the new cab guy's cell. I had to finally walk out in the middle of the lot and rotate like a spirograph before my phone would make the call. New cab guy said sorry, he was too far away.

Naturally, I'd left all my other cab numbers with my grocery cart sitting in the shade of the store (I was watching it the whole time). Walked back to the cart. Got my numbers. Walked back to the middle of the lot, and for the hell of it, called my usual taxi guy.

He answered.

While I was waiting for him I tried to draw a cloud I saw. It came out more like a dolphin with a horrible skin disease.

He came & got me & told me on Friday he'd had *ouch* kidney stone pain & took painkillers that made it impossible for him to drive. And this morning, he had to take his wife to the hospital for some sort of general tests.

Well, I'm home. *FLUMPH*....

This is why I must be feeling fit on the days when I go out. :^) I decided to play with the sketches in photoshop & am happier with them now that I've added a bit of color.
