Naart Day 8

Today I felt ick & so decided not to bother with yard/house work at all & just to sit on my butt & do some art. I'd never tried to do a really complex scratchboard picture before, so I gave myself some 'crutches' by making a photo into a reference the exact size of the scratchboard, and cutting it into pieces that I could use for stencils around the main areas of similar darkness. It was a slowwwww process, but it resulted in a recognizable image of Kerr Avon. Yay.
So here's today's contribution to
naarmamo. All my Naart is here, from 2006 to present, divided into galleries by year.

So here's today's contribution to

Date: 2009-08-09 12:34 am (UTC)My 'beginner's crutch' was very helpful. I cut out the whole figure first (from a paper printout) and scratched a line around it, and then I cut off areas of mostly the same darkness one at a time and scratched around them, and then referred to the cut off piece & a blown-up on the computer image of the full color photo to scratch out that one area before cutting off the next.
If I ever do another I may get braver & make the face lighter.
