Also pics of pool permit papers, living bench in progress, dove wrapper giraffe sculpture, and neighbor's palm tree in yesterday's rain.
I'd never seen this species of dragonfly before- I swear it looks like the face of Goofy, with a blue toothed grin.

It was blustery, the light was poor, and the dragonfly was only about an inch and a half long, so it was tough to get a good snap

The sky was amazing today. That little white dot in the lower middle is the moon.

Taken in the morning, standing in my yard, no tripod, only using the camera's in-built zoom.

I'm pretty sure this is a century plant. It takes a long time to mature enough to bloom. Not a century, but I seem to remember seeing this plant in the neighbor's yard for more than 20 years without ever blooming. Now it blooms every year. It's about 20 foot tall.

My living seat is slowly coming along. Every few weeks to a month (depending on how much rain I've had) I weave in any new growth. Some of it is hardening into wood. The far left side can already support my weight.

The black-eyed susan vines are really starting to intermingle with the lantana. I hope they'll attract different species of butterflies. I've seen some that obviously don't like lantana- they just flit right past.

Pool permit papers, with Magic Marker glee added to the bag.

Dove wrappers work pretty well as sculpture.

It poured rain yesterday. It's hard to take pictures of rain. This is the only one where you can really see it.

Date: 2009-11-07 09:22 am (UTC)And the Moon! It is fantastic, oh yes.
Also the greenery and "flowery" in yöur garden - don´t forget that even the weed is exotic for me:-)
Also your rain must be strong and short?

Date: 2009-11-07 04:23 pm (UTC)I'm getting used to the new camera- I still don't think it focuses quite as sharp on close objects, but it does zoom further, and it mostly focuses faster.
The black-eyed susan vine is actually not a weed- I got the seeds from a mail-order place almost 2 years ago- they're very slow growing. I got them thinking to cover up a bit of fence, but months after I planted them the lantana started growing, and it did SO much better (I thought the susans had died entirely) that I let it take over. It's only been recently that the susans have sneaked out and are climbing all over the lantana.
The rain varies- sometimes I'll get an all-day drizzle. Often I do get intense, short bursts. Sometimes the sky opens up for a minute, and then is sunny right again afterward. Sometimes it rains while the sun is shining. That's always lovely- the rain sparkles.

Date: 2009-11-07 08:57 pm (UTC)I think that's the best moon pic I've ever got- the extra zoom on the new camera makes a huge difference.
